Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist inpatient and community mental health, learning disabilities, addiction services and acquired brain injury services for the people of Liverpool, Sefton and Kirkby, Merseyside. We also provide community physical health services in Liverpool and Sefton, secure mental health services for the North West of England, the West Midlands and Wales and specialist learning disability services across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside. Our services are currently provided from 124 sites across the North West.

Our ambition is to deliver perfect care and become the world’s leading organisation in physical, mental health, addiction and learning disabilities. We set our own standards and goals for improvements in care rather than aiming to meet minimum standards set by other organisations. Our values are those of: Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Respect, Enthusiasm and Support. We are the first Trust in the UK to publicly commit and develop a policy to have zero suicides among people in our care by 2020.

We work closely with service users, carers and partner organisations, we've been able to make real improvements to our diverse range of services, from health and social care, right through to high secure provision. This passion to improve has been recognised by the CQC who have recently rated us “Good” overall and “Outstanding” for being well led.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Liverpool Wheelchair Service for a dedicated band 4 Rehabilitation Engineer Technician to aid the delivery of wheeled posture and mobility for Liverpool Wheelchair Service. The position could be suitable for someone with practical engineering and healthcare experience.

The successful candidate will be required to work as part of the multidisciplinary team in assisting in the assessment, demonstration and adaptation of posture and mobility equipment to suit the individual needs of clients under the supervision of a qualified practitioner and/or the band 5 Rehabilitation Engineer Technician.

You will support the band 5 Rehabilitation Engineer Technician and clinicians in the Liverpool Wheelchair Service in providing technical expertise and advice for Liverpool Wheelchair Service using engineering principles.

We are an innovative service with a shared goal of providing a high quality service to our patients to achieve their mobility goals and enable their independence. We are looking for a forward thinking rehabilitation engineer technician who will add to the team’s dynamic approach and be committed to their own continuing professional development. An effective team player with excellent organisational and communication skills is required to work in a busy service.

You will be expected to complete assessments at clinic and in the community both independently and with support as required.

Liverpool Wheelchair Service will provide relevant training necessary to enable you to have the skills and knowledge to provide the high quality service we aim for. And there will be plenty of opportunities to gain experience in this specialist area of practice, through shadowing and learning from others.

Liverpool Wheelchair Service is a busy yet innovative team with enthusiastic staff with a good work ethic to ensure the continued development of the team and promotion of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust values.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.
