Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist inpatient and community mental health, learning disabilities, addiction services and acquired brain injury services for the people of Liverpool, Sefton and Kirkby, Merseyside. We also provide community physical health services in Liverpool and Sefton, secure mental health services for the North West of England, the West Midlands and Wales and specialist learning disability services across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside. Our services are currently provided from 124 sites across the North West.

Our ambition is to deliver perfect care and become the world’s leading organisation in physical, mental health, addiction and learning disabilities. We set our own standards and goals for improvements in care rather than aiming to meet minimum standards set by other organisations. Our values are those of: Continuous Improvement, Accountability, Respect, Enthusiasm and Support. We are the first Trust in the UK to publicly commit and develop a policy to have zero suicides among people in our care by 2020.

We work closely with service users, carers and partner organisations, we've been able to make real improvements to our diverse range of services, from health and social care, right through to high secure provision. This passion to improve has been recognised by the CQC who have recently rated us “Good” overall and “Outstanding” for being well led.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Physiotherapist to join the Rehabilitation at Home Team.

The post involves working with patients following traumatic hip surgery at Aintree University Hospital.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.

Rehabilitation at Home provides pre-op environmental assessments, in-reaches onto orthopaedic wards and follows patients into the community with the aim of maximising their potential and capability through intensive short term therapy.

The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Assistant Practitioners. Cross therapy competencies operate within service provision and specific training will be provided. There is a strong commitment to continued professional development.

Services are Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 16:30 with individualised appointments outside of these core hours as required.

The ability to travel between locations and patient's homes within the community is essential.

There is a possibility that this post may become part of a Community Physiotherapy rotation in the future.

Shortlisting is planned for 26th February 2020.

Interviews are planned for 11th March 2020.

Applicant requirements

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement. Guidance can be found here Criminal Records Checks for Overseas Applicants.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
